What is my body doing?

Latest blood test results show my hcg level has risen to 57.

So now we’ve had 35, 18, 25 and 57. That last level is a big jump and actually doubled in 72 hours. Well…great.

I’ve had a full (albeit very light) period, I’ve been off crinone for 8 days, I’ve gone back onto metformin and the medications that regulate my pituitary gland, I’ve stopped drinking 2.5L of water a day, I don’t have sore boobs anymore, I don’t have headaches or a heightened sense of smell anymore.

I do have pretty much constant nausea and constipation. Most importantly I’m still having consistent pains on my right side, where I imagine my right ovary is sitting.

Is my doctor concerned?

No, no she is not.

She says there’s still no need to come in to see her until my scheduled appointment Thursday afternoon.

My mother is now freaking out and convinced I am viably pregnant even though I have explained why that’s not the case at least 10 times.

My husband is away until Saturday night. Would be nice to have him around just at the moment.

Nothing I can do except wait until Thursday now.

Righteo. Great. Good times.

  1. this is awful. i’m so sorry this is happening. i know with my ectopics i had running cramp like pain on each side (cramps on the left when it was the left tube, right when it was the right). if your pain gets worse or you have bleeding before thursday, get yourself to the ER ASAP.

    • Thanks for your advice! I have a throbbing type pain on my right side it comes and goes in waves sort of like menstrual cramping but it’s constant both day and night. The doctor thinks it’s a cyst playing up but that doesn’t explain my rising hcg. I guess I’ll find out Thursday…

  2. Ectopic, almost certainly I think. Why your Doctor is not concerned about pain and rising HCG levels is beyond me. I would go to ER, demand a scan and not take no for an answer. It is potentially dangerous to leave a growing ectopic as is, especially as you say you’re in pain. I don’t know what your doc is playing at. Mine was visible in my tube at 5 weeks.
I don’t want to scare you, but I’m feeling a bit annoyed on your behalf. I don’t think you should have to wait to Thursday for answers, I really don’t.
But having said all that, I’m hoping for a miracle for you, and would love for your mother to be right. Either way, good luck, thoughts are with you.

    • i didn’t want to scare you (not you did desperateinthedesert) but this is message i wanted to write you. i would be in the ER right now if i were you. ruptured tubes can be deadly. i too am HOPING BEYOND HOPE that this isn’t the case but reality is, it could very well be. you don’t need anything worse happening to you right now sweetie.

  3. I recommend like the others and head to the ER. I am so sorry that you are going through this and I think you need to listen to your body. You know it better than anyone else. Thinking of you and sending a big hug.

  4. I’m so sorry. This sounds a lot like my ectopic and the Dr’s also were not concerned. I did go to the ER and they missed the ectopic and I ended up with a ruptured tube. The pain continued to get considerably worse which prompted my trip to the ER– best of luck to you.
